Several days ago I wrote a post about how Dandelions bring back memories of my childhood long past. The inspiration was contributing to my angst of knowing I had another birthday coming up and was not looking forward to it. Birthdays are something that I have not looked forward to as the years pass and this one was one that need to be pushed out of my mind. I wanted an escape from the everyday emotions of life that always seem to unravel right before our eyes.

This brought me to the inspiration of how could I create an emotional linkbait that would still motivate active users of social media to create a return of emotional investment by way of social recognition.

The experiment was a success in my opinion. It helped me to get to know several readers of the Collective-Thoughts blog much better than I would have if I were to have written a white paper about the intricacies of linkbait instead of showing the over all results. It also helped me, or should I say it pulled me out of one roll many have seen me in and placed me into an entire new position in their mind. By letting my guard down and describing a moment in my life I connected with a few more readers!

I am not going to discuss the over all numbers, the unique views, or how long each reader stayed. I will say I have been very surprised at the turnout and the results I have accumulated.

To sum things up for today. If you posted a review of my last post on Collective-Thoughts, check your StumbleUpon email in the coming days as I will follow up with the reviews of your sites very soon.

Thank you again for making my day that much more interesting.

It makes me want to scream when it comes to how lost many writers are when it comes to giving respect to their online peers!

I was shown a post in a major online news site where they were talking about the effect you get from Google when you make the home page of Digg. I give him credit for understanding what Linkbait is but Senior Reporter Andy Greenberg goes on to tell us every headline that reaches Digg’s home page receives an average of 129 links. This could have really made me follow what he writes if he could have just given an example of one link in his post! He talks about a few people that I know and respect, but if I were an outsider this post would really be worthless to me. How do I know he did not make all these people up? Who is Neil Patel? I knew who he is but what if I were not as heavy into the Social Media industry?

In all his effort, it really is a great article. But I am hung up on its lack of reference. When he wrote "Chris Winfield, president of search marketing firm 10e20," would it have been so hard to have given Chris a link so someone new to the industry could learn more about him and why he an authority in his niche?

Here is what I suggest, since we are no longer allowed to take these people out behind the barn to tar and feather. We must write up a packet teaching them the effect they would have on their sites if we were all to link to their posts. Outline how they need to know who these people are that they reference and what sites they write for and link to them. Also how to determine if the site is a bad neighborhood to avoid linking. An example Andy Beard offers in his post Linking Abuse Or Linking Awareness.

Next time we gather for a conference I wish to have the writers present themselves so we can offer this to them. Let them see the value of us linking back to them.

It is now after 2AM and my rant is over. If you agree with me help me educate these writers so we can all get along… Or should I start looking for a bag to collect chicken feathers to bring to London?

Well maybe not so much breaking news but viral videos create viral content for SEO web site development!

This week I received a call from a friend about creating viral content for an alternative energy company. First thing, I needed to know the type of alternative energy company their client is. "Solar power", "wind energy", and "wind power" are the most commonly searched for renewable energy keywords. I was intrigued.

About a year ago I competed in an SEO contest that featured global warming as its theme. The contest really started my investigation on how to promote a client in this very heavily competitive market related to alternative energy sources. I remembered that most of my traffic came from the viral internet videos. The question became; "How do I use a viral video for seo optimization?"

The client is an alternative energy source creating "wind powered energy technology". This company is asking for the best viral marketing development my friend can produce. It must also be in a short period of time.

Let’s ask the former Vice President Al Gore what worked for him?

Al Gore used YouTube to promote his efforts to teach the effects of climate change to many people. This brings me to some type of web development or web site design that will incorporate seo marketing with science articles and viral marketing.

SEO web design can be simplified with newspaper articles and breaking news alerts. But I wanted to create something that really shocked public opinion. Normally when I create business web site design for a client I want to keep the story line very tame. Not this time! Viral video girls could be an option to consider. Would the client be pushed away from the idea as they would be rather racy?

Now I need to brainstorm about a professional web site design to use a viral marketing campaign. (I am <strike>thinking</strike> writing out loud) An idea could to use a renewable energy consultant in some type of marketing viral video clip. Funny viral videos do well on YouTube and other online video networks. One option I have toyed with is to have a young buxom girl asking complex questions about financing renewable energy while undressing because global warming is making her hot. It would make a few laughs, but not targeted for my desired audience, in my opinion. Since renewable energy finance could cover many topics I could easily cover many videos over a short time span and still cover renewable energy jobs or renewable energy resources in follow up videos. Right?

Marketing viral video clips may produce good examples of viral marketing for thirty somethings and younger. But will the older more professional investment crowd still view my viral content? Wind energy systems really do fascinate me and I need a fast efficient way to create a professional web site design centered on wind power generators and alternative energy resources. My hope is to make each video so viral that the national news networks pick them up. How difficult could it be to promote custom web site design around renewable energy sources like wind power generation?

Now I am asking all of you, how would your seo web development include such information as solar and wind power with a focus on the wind energy niche? Should I mainly point out the efficiency of wind energy over an alternative energy source like nuclear power? Will this type of viral information turn away the audience I am looking for?

It all boils down to this is my idea for creating viral content for a wind powered energy company to convert them to become a client, Will it work?

You can help me to determine if this is a viable marketing plan by creating a review of this post with your StumbleUpon account. You do have a StumbleUpon account Right! I have written this post with the SEO bloggers in mind so I know you also have an account on Digg, Reddit and helpfully now Sphinn. Plus all of the other social networks we congregate around. You know what to do with them so now is your time to act. Help me out with constructive criticism and I will reply to your reactions. Thank you in advance.

PerezHilton.com was the first media outlet in the world to break the UNTRUE news of Castro’s death.

Now they are receiving thousands of backlinks from all over the world. This could be a huge form of linkbait that will make PerezHilton.com the number one source of information to get the news of Fidel Castro’s death.

If you have news such as this would you hold on to it and wait for it to become official or would you post it as soon as you are informed?

UPDATE: Fidel Castro’s death was another hoax! Or was it? What is your opinion?

So it looks like it was just linkbait put out by PerezHilton.com and I was was one of many that added links to make him rank very well for the term Fidel Castro. This brings me to the point, how one site can break a story and immediately push to the top of Google’s blog search in only a matter of hours and move into the top position in the Google main index soon after.
