Interesting article, but I must say that I also hate when pdfs pop up in my SERPs. It would be cool is Google had an option to search only PDFs.

Thanks for the link, I share the same problem as the above commentator, PDF’s nearly crash my computer when I have my usual stuff open so I avoid them usually.
Thanks for highlighting that post.

I don't know if its just me but if I click on a result and see that it is a PDF, I usually click the back button. The guys the create the PDF files, are they just concerned about their info being copied?

I find there to be no reason as to why search engines are treating PDF's as good stuff rather than Web pages, look, the internet was created for internet files not PDFs, much better pages may rank below the PDF, it just doesn't make any sense to me!

Interesting. I am not suprised that all of the PDF's were indexed. I am suprised that they were not ranked well. There can be a lot of content on those babies and if "content is king", (assuming it is half-way decent), it should produce some decent rankings. Thanks for the info!

I am so glad you posted this! When my programmers come in we are going to discuss adding a PDF directory and the conversion to ArticleSender, as an upscale to our basic services. We should be able to get it up in a few days.

I never really thought much about pdf and search engine indexing and such. I will have to look into this better. Thanks for the thought.

I don't see the point of ranking for PDF files. Its not like you can put affiliate links or ads in them to get people to click on them?

I did not know that PDFs could be used to get indexed by search engines, but I can understand that PDFs are searched for just like other types of files. I wonder if is a whole branch of SEO for PDF file links.
