Google Bowling 2.0 is buying your competitor links then telling Google

Posted on | September 9, 2007 | 12 Comments

Are your competitors ranking just above you in the SERPS and it looks like there is no way of catching them? Want to effectively push them out of the search engine results? Maybe you heard that Google Bowling was over. Wrong, think again.

It’s time for Google Bowling 2.0!

Google Bowling 2.0 Style with Matt CuttsGoogle Bowling 2.0 is all about buying links for your competition. Matt Cutts has made Google Bowling very easy for you to accomplish. Matt Cutts wants you to do this! Matt Cutts is the head of Google’s anti-web-spam department. This makes him the top dog when telling Google who is using paid links to rank higher than YOU. Why not help him out? Go buy your favorite competitor a few hundred backlinks on your local newspapers website. Then send a friendly message to Google and let them know just how nasty your competitor is. Does Google still promote their "Do no evil!" slogan?

If you can’t find a good newspaper selling sitewide links, go to Digital Point Forums, there are always a few link spammers selling sitewide links there. Mention this post to receive a bulk discount!

Have fun with this endeavor as it will surely bring you success for a few days. That is till someone reports you for doing the same thing once you are now in the #1 chair. Because once you are in the Hot Seat everyone is now making you the next target.

My suggestion, go for the longtail and stay under the radar of your competition. Avoid using Negative SEO as it will only make you a person of interest. Most important of all don’t take this post too seriously.

Google and their confounded text link policy.

We should manipulate it against them more often, considering how they send us scrambling ever time there is a vague and contradictory guideline added.

And since AdSense is the driving force behind most spam sites..

They polluted their own search results, so now we are creating and seeking better methods for getting useful results…

whats next Matt? Outlawing all links? Outlawing traffic?

Dude, that’s just wrong… but kinda’ sounds like fun. Of course until someone does it you – glad you made a point of that. Reminds me of an article I read where a guy managed to push out a girl’s long-distance boyfriend. Everything was great until she moved and then he became the long-distance boyfriend – so knowing what he knew he couldn’t help but be paranoid.

Well,… ALL my competitors have TONS of paid links. They do not only pay local newspapers but also pay ‘Online Media Companies’??? Wo have a long list of domain names with some poor quality and outdated content, but all wth links to my competition. It is not a hidden fact at all that those are paid links. Google still shows those links as a links to my client’s domains. So it does sound fun, but in reallity shows us something diferent.

I’m just afraid general readers might take this seriously. Negative SEO written in a positive way is a little bit distracting.

However, is there a way to find out which competitor did this to our sites?

GMansky: I did not make it to the last SES, I wish I had. This is a topic that hits very near to home for me.

A while back I was finding lots of links that were pointing to one of my financial sites. A week later it was deindexed. So the question of how to find if a competitor is doing this to me has always been on my mind and if there is a way to find them.

The only thing I can say is no. I can’t tell if they are doing it to me. But as soon as I find out I will write a post about how to find them.

What they should do is just eliminate the effect that these paid links have altogether. Treat them like they don’t exist. Then when someone tries to abuse the system, it doesn’t penalize you for something that you didn’t do.

Guys here please do not take this post seriously. By doing that does not benefits one in the long run. Google will run investigation prior to the report. If you really does buy tons of paid links for your competitors, chances are Google can easily detect the links age and get back to you.

Do you want to be that guy who resorts to that kind of tactic? Karma is a serious bitch and Matt Cutts isn’t stupid. Google Bowling is hardly a cutting edge tactic and will eventually come back to bite you, especially because the people selling the links will get penalized to and have no incentive not to rat you out if they think you are responsible for the snitching.

This post is old and out dated now. This tactic WILL NOT work anymore. But it you wish to test it…you can buy me a load of links!! ;)
